Check out 2024!
JANUARY 2024
We started the year with a Bunco fundraiser and it was great fun! Thank you to everyone who joined us.
The TDS program volunteered with Vallejo's Carquinez Quad Squad on January 20 at the Tomato Jam. These roller derby ladies rock it!
We also volunteered with the Coach Sarna Flag Football League down at Levi Stadium. We love doing this!
We finished the month with a trip to San Francisco to visit the Legion of Honor Museum. The special exhibit was the drawings of Renaissance artist Fra Filippo Lippi!
FEBRUARY
Black History Month! We visited North Bay Regional Center's Black History Month celebration, where two of our Art@Arc artists submitted work. We also presented our Dictionary of Black Leaders that the ACT participants had made. Later in February, we had a field trip to the Museum of the Women of the Black Panther Party in Oakland. It was so educational and inspirational. The murals outside the museum were beautiful!
MARCH 2024
ACT visited Becoming Independent in Santa Rosa to attend the NBRC Women's History Month Celebration. We loved visiting their beautiful location! We got to hear from inspirational speakers, talk with vendors, have a snack, and meet new friends!
APRIL 2024
We held the opening reception for our new art exhibit in the Amy Scopesi Art Gallery! Reflections from the Studio is the first exhibit we have had in over a decade... but it won't be our last! We are looking forward to hosting three exhibits per year.
DisCo at the Capitol! This major advocacy event was hosted by The Arc of California. We attended both the silent disco and the Capitol Action Day, where we visited Assemblymember Wilson's office and Senator Dodd's office. Don't cut our rate!!
The Arc-Solano was honored to participate in the Democracy Matters Observer Corps, a civics education program organized by Alice Fried and Sandy Coury from The League of Women Voters of Solano County. Vallejo's city council collaborated with the event and put together a Mock City Council at the City Hall to give the participants a true demonstration of how local government works.
MAY 2024
We had two fantastic events in May! First, we had a day trip to San Francisco where we visited the Japanese Tea Garden, had lunch in the Concourse, and then viewed the Irving Penn special exhibit at the de Young Museum.
At the end of May, we hosted our BBQ and Talent Show at Rush Ranch in Suisun. The breeze was gentle, the talent was superb, and the food was delicious!
