Just as our agency needs your support to thrive, our program participants need our staff to thrive. The low value that our state places on our employees is reflected in the California state budget and our rate reimbursement structure. However, we know how important our work is. Our employees create developmentally appropriate lessons on everything from social skills and self-esteem to financial literacy to reading and history lessons. They help our program participants matriculate into Solano Community College and provide additional support so they can succeed in post-secondary education. The staff ensures housing recertifications and Medi-Cal benefits do not lapse. They translate "doctor-speak" for our consumers at medical appointments. They provide opportunities for community integration through volunteering. Your generous sponsorships help keep consistent, stable, and quality staffing in our programs.
Your support also enables us to provide significant enrichments to our programs- like trips to cultural events that most consumers don't get to enjoy, including Major League Baseball games and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and Sacramento. Plus, our Art@Arc program is active again! This value-added program provides a safe and non-judgmental space for our consumers to explore the freedom of choice and self-expression. With your support, we are offering classes in the visual arts and have reopened our Amy Scopesi Gallery.
