Who We Are

Katy St. Clair

Katy St. Clair began at The Arc Solano as a volunteer in the Literacy Program in 2020. She has spent a large part of her life working with and advocating for adults with developmental disabilities. Previously she has worked in the supported and independent living programs with Toolworks in San Francisco, and as a job coach and day program facilitator for PDS Marin. Currently, she is collecting stories from people who grew up in Sonoma State Hospital, in hopes of putting their voices and experiences into a documentary.

Katy is an award-winning journalist and columnist and has been recognized for her coverage of disability issues. Her story "A Very Special Concert" about Huey Lewis and his large developmentally disabled fanbase won her a Deems Taylor Award from AASCAP, or the Grammys.  In addition, she was a music columnist for the East Bay Express, a celebrity gossip columnist for the San Francisco Examiner, and a nightlife columnist for the SF Weekly. Her most recent journalism work was as a staff writer for the Vallejo Times-Herald and the Vacaville Reporter.
