Marianita Vieira
In 2006, Marianita, known as “Mary” at The Arc-Solano, started working with people with I/DD as a part-time vocational counselor, while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. At Integrated Community Services (ICS) in San Rafael, she provided employment support to clients at a variety of venues, including restaurants, grocery stores, and even at an authentic cheese factory. Marked by her delightful experiences at ICS, she went back to the field in 2016, when she was offered to work as a Tailored Day Instructor at the Arc-Solano by a friend who was leaving the agency.
Since then, Mary has devoted her work and education to The Arc-Solano and the people we serve. First, as Tailored Day Instructor, Mary provided direct support to clients in areas of community inclusion, college assistance, volunteering, daily living skills and more. Then as a Resources and Training Instructor, in addition to direct services, she created and provided training materials to clients and staff about subjects such as autism, disabilities and health. Now as our newest Director of Services, she will oversee the agency’s three core programs: ACT, TS and TDS. In preparing for her position, Mary has completed an Autism Spectrum Disorders Professional Concentration Program at U.C. Davis Extension, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at Touro University.
