Event Calendar

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our 3rd Annual Sprout Film Festival at The Empress Theatre!  We all had a great time at this beautiful art deco venue that is located in downtown Vallejo. The doors opened at 2 pm so our guests had plenty of time to browse and bid on our awesome silent auction items, purchase popcorn, soda, and candy, and select their seats. 

The 14 short films we selected started at 3 pm.  They included music videos, poetry, documentaries, animation, and narrative fiction. Feedback on the films was very positive, though the two films "I am Ziggy" and "Fighter" proved to be a bit controversial. Not everyone was comfortable with them. Halfway through our screening, we had an extended intermission so folks could check and finalize their silent auction bids and refill their popcorn.

Support for this event directly impacts our participants' qualify of life.  Our most vital resource in providing quality services to our consumers is our staff.  Most of our funding is from the state and federal governments;  however, it hardly provides a living wage for our direct support staff, much less what they actually deserve for the contributions they make to our consumers’ lives. Ticket purchases and silent auction proceeds help keep consistent, stable, and quality staffing in our programs. It also enables us to provide significant enrichments to our programs, like our Art@Arc program, literacy, and field trips to places like the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and Major League Baseball games.  We can purchase new and exciting curriculums for teaching ADLs, Spanish classes, and healthy relationships.  We can stay up-to-date with technology needs and provide staff with Chromebooks and Zoom accounts and consumers with tablets and hotspots.
